Subject: Open and Affordable Community Forum - Call for Proposals
VIVA’s Open and Affordable Community Forum Call for Proposals is now open!
The VIVA Open and Affordable Community Forum will be held Friday, October 13, 2023 at Virginia Commonwealth University. The event will be hybrid, allowing attendees to join virtually or in person. This year’s theme, “Open for Creation: The Power of Belonging,” seeks to explore stories about the diverse ways that adopting, adapting, and creating Open Educational Resources (OER) fosters belonging, equity, and care. For more information about the Open and Affordable Community Forum, including past Forum agendas, visit VIVA’s website (https://vivalib.org/va/open/oacc-forum).
The Forum Planning Committee invites proposals for workshops, panels and presentations that consider the impact of creating OER and adopting open practices in meeting the needs of learners and instructors. Workshop, panel, and long presentation sessions will be 45 minutes and short presentation sessions will be 15 minutes. All sessions should allow time for questions and discussion with the audience.
· Panels should include 3-5 presenters on a topic or project relevant to the day’s theme.
· Long presentations should be no more than 30 minutes in length and invite questions or discussion for the final 15 minutes of the session. Short presentations should be no longer than 10 minutes and invite questions for the final 5 minutes.
· Workshops should be interactive but successful in a hybrid format.
Proposals are due by July 21, 2023. Please submit your proposal with title, abstract of no more than 250 words, and presenters’ names, email addresses, and institutional affiliations via the form found here: https://forms.gle/QZnobdk8dW4WQQcU9.
On behalf of the Open and Affordable Community Forum Planning Committee, we look forward to gathering and learning with you this fall!
