Hi,

I am newbie in OpenVSP and it works just fine when I fisrt used it.
But after a few model analysis, it does not work properly on the VSPAERO analysis.
It took longer to generate SetupInput file and when I LanuchSolver the message below has apperead.

The process has forked and you cannot use this CoreFoundation functionality safely. You MUST exec().
Break on __THE_PROCESS_HAS_FORKED_AND_YOU_CANNOT_USE_THIS_COREFOUNDATION_FUNCTIONALITY___YOU_MUST_EXEC__() to debug.

What should I do in rectifying the problem?

Thank you.

Regards,
Baizura

I have never seen that error.

Is it something that you can reproduce? If so, can you send me the
files that cause it to happen?

What version of OS X are you running?

I am running the software using the OS X 10.9.5
I am not sure if it is a modeling problem or multiprocessing faulty.
I enclosed the document I've used for the VSPAero analysis.

Thank you for your help.

That file ran without crashing on my computer. The results are
probably not great because the fuselage plane exactly coincides with
the wing's plane, but it ran without the crash you saw.

Is the problem you describe repeatable? Can you give me the exact
steps you take to make it happen?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi,

So its nothing wrong with the model except for the overlapping between the fuselage and the wing.
Would you suggest I remove it for a better results?

Yes, the problem is repeatable.
It's happened when I tried to change the mesh and diameter of the actuator disk.

After the model is generated, I create the DegenGeom.csv and click the Generate Geometry > Setup Input File > Launch Solver
How long does it take to generate the Setup Input File before we can Launch the Solver?
It seems that it tooks a very long time to Setup the Input File, threfore I Kill the Solver.

Is it because of that? Can i just copy and paste the Setup Input File?
How would you suggest I go about this?

Thank you,

Cheers,
Baizura

Hi Rob,

After many trials, I am still facing the same problem.
The message below appeared at the terminal when it tried to generate the Setup Input File.

2015-10-16 09:36:11.162 vsp[8783:507] CoreText performance note: Client called CTFontCreateWithName() using name "Arial" and got font with PostScript name "ArialMT". For best performance, only use PostScript names when calling this API.

error : Unknown IO error

The Setup Input File console remains empty. But the "Kill Solver" seems to be in neverending processing.
Can you explain what actually happened?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Baizura

I don't have any idea what is going on.

Is this failure repeatable? I.e. is there a reliable set of steps
that you can take to make this happen every time? If so, can you tell
me _exactly_ how to recreate this problem?

Hi Rob,

Yes, the failure is repeatable. Up until now I can't do any VSPAero analysis even with different models.
Seems like the software is just not working anymore.
I took the same step below everytime to run the VSPAero analysis;
1. Generate the DegenGeom.csv file
2. On the VSPAero analysis tab select the respected DegemGeom.csv file
3. Click on the Generate Geometry tab.
4. Then, Click on Setup Input File tab.
5. The Kill Solver become active but nothing happen as if it can't for the file selected.

Please let me know if I did it wrongly.
I even copied and pasted the Setup Input File manually.
The Launch Solver tab become active but it after a while it crash and the message below appeared on the Solver console;

The process has forked and you cannot use this CoreFoundation functionality safely. You MUST exec().
Break on __THE_PROCESS_HAS_FORKED_AND_YOU_CANNOT_USE_THIS_COREFOUNDATION_FUNCTIONALITY___YOU_MUST_EXEC__() to debug.

Would it be better if I reinstall the OpenVSP?
Or is it just bug or my computer multiprocessing malfunction?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Baizura

This looks like a possible bug between our GUI library and the latest version of OS X.  I'll try to chase down a solution, but it won't be fast.

Is there any chance that you're attempting to run vsp with elevated permissions (sudo or root)?  One of the messages I saw related to this seemed to correlate that with the problem.

Hi,

I am very much a beginner user and not a programmer.
I am afraid I don't have much time to spare on waiting for the solution.
I am very keen to try any other possible method as long as I can run the analysis and get some results out of it.
I would really appreciate a more detail expalaination on how to run vsp with elevated permissions (sudo or root).

Thank you very much.

My easiest solution is to try running on a Mac with an older version
of OS X installed.

Hi Rob,

Thank you for the suggestion.
Is OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 compatible?

Cheers,
Baizura
