Hi there.

I tested the Step file importing in:

  • Program name : Siemens NX
  • Program version: 9
  • Platform: Windows 7
  • Successful import on all files
  • Characteristics of the import: The 'Grouped Bezier Patches' parts were divided up into 'bodies' between the splines, where the higher order parts were simply divided into separate bodies where each body constitutes the entire pod.
Please tell me how I can elaborate on these tests.

I now however have an issue importing a body that i created with VSP3 into NX.

Attached is the .vsp3 file, the STEP file I exported from VSP, as well as a screenshot of how the file looks when it is imported into NX.

The front half of the body is perfect but NX fails to properly import the rear part of the body.

I am not sure if the problem lies with VSP or NX.

I will appreciate any help on this!

Regards
Michael

Update: I was bale to open the file using Solidworks, so the problem must lie with NX.

As a workaround I exported the body as a parasolid in Solidworks and imported that into NX, and this works fine and since I have both software packages it's no hassle for me.

But it might be good for you guys to know that there is an issue with the NX STEP importing (-: (Not even sure if anybody else out there in aerospace uses NX as opposed to CATIA)

Thanks for the test report Michael.

STEP is really frustrating -- from what I can tell, we write out 100%
valid, standards conforming files.

However, it seems that most importers have one problem or another with
them. Everyone assumes it is our bug, but we're basically helpless to
fix them.

Yeah and it's especially strange as i was able to import all the test files.

Anyway, I managed with the via- Solidworks workflow!

Cheers
