When I try to add a jpeg image as a background to trace a 3-view drawing VSP crashes with the Windows error "openvsp.exe has stopped working"

with the following:

I have tried this with the previous 3 versions of VSP3 including the latest 3.3.1 and all give the same error.

Any help will be appreciated.

Does this happen with all *.jpg files you try? It certainly works for
other people, but I have had strange problems that seem to be
associated with particular image files.

If other files work for you, please share the file that causes the crash.

It happens with all jpegs.

The strange thing is that I'm pretty sure that it used to work, although I regularly switch between two PC's so I cannot say for certain.

And strangely it works with VSP2. Do versions 2 and 3 use the same 'behind the scenes' libraries to do this?

I am new to using VSP. I am having this same trouble, though I don't get the error message. It just crashes. Did you ever get a solution?

That is terrible news....

Version 3.5.1 replaced libJPEG with a different library for reading
image files. It shares very little in common with the old approach.
I had really hoped this change would take care of these problems once
and for all.

Can you please tell me exactly what operating system and version,
OpenVSP version, and possibly attach a file that causes the crash?

Can you convert one of the files into a PNG and see if it will load then?

Ok,

My best guess is that your computer is using Windows' default OpenGL
driver -- not a driver specific to your graphics card.

Can you check this -- and update to a driver provided by your graphics
card manufacturer?
