Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! I have a glider model designed for 3D printing, and I would like to use the STL files for this model to create an OpenVSP representation of the glider. My goal is to apply some conceptual design techniques to evaluate the model’s performance and identify areas for improvement.

The model consists of multiple parts and includes a complete STL file of the entire glider. Currently, I am using the planar slice and fit model technique; however, when I import the STL files, they are oriented differently than the native fuselage orientation.

Could you please advise me on how to rotate the model to align it correctly? Additionally, is the approach of using separate STL files and then assembling the fit models into the full glider the best method?

Please find the attached STL files for the model.

Thank you!

When you import the STL file, you should be able to rotate the corresponding MeshGeom to align with OpenVSP's conventions.

X increasing nose to tail.
Y increasing out the right wing.
Z increasing up.

Yes, I would import separate files if I had them, it will make things easier to deal with overall.
