Hello

I followed this video

as I have a wing section where I need a rounded trailing edge.
I don't fully understand the difference between absolute and relative and Brandon does not go too much into it.

Could someone please explain what the difference between the absolute and relative options are?

I need to have my TE tip rounded with a radius of 1% of the chord.

Relative is measured as fraction of the chord.  .02 would be 2% of the chord.  TE thickness would be a diameter in your situation, so .02 should give a 1% radius.

Absolute is in actual model dimensions.

VSPAERO might not work with the blunt TE.  You might need to carry two versions of your model - one with the blunt TE and one with sharp.

Thank you for your reply, Rob.

When you say 'actual model dimensions', what is that supposed to represent? That is what I am unsure about. If I have a full aircraft geometry, would that be the total length of the model from the nose cone to the tail?

I won't be using VSPAero. I am exporting the geometry for CFD.

OpenVSP models are in whatever units you want them to be in.

When you add a wing and set the span to 10, is that 10cm, 10m, 10ft, 10in?  Only you can know.  OpenVSP only knows that it is 10.

Some CFD tools will have problems with blunt airfoil TE -- others will have trouble with sharp airfoil TE.
