I'm running OpenVSP 3.21.1.

I have a simple tapered wing with ailerons that I'm trying to run through VSPAero Panel Method
I have 1 control group containing the ailerons with the angle set to 15 degrees. After the i launch the solver and it
finishes finishes successfully
I look through the log and see that "NumberOfControlGroups = 0"  even though the ailerons are enabled
in the "Control Group Angles" section of the "OverView" tab of the VSPAero dialog.

Any idea why this is? I seem to remember this working in an earlier version of OpenVSP.

I'll attach screen shots of the "Overview", "Advanced", and "Control Grouping" tabs of the
VSPAero dialog.

Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Control surfaces only currently work with VLM mode - not Panel mode.

Switch to VLM and see if that does what you need.

Thanks for the response Rob. I suspected that was the case.

Is this still the case in the latest release?

I have a model that runs fine in VLM. And the Panel mode runs with my CS deleted. When I add the CS the solver won't converge.

Thanks

I am surprised that adding the CS causes your model to not converge - I may need to try this.

To my knowledge, the latest VSPAERO solver still makes no attempt to deflect a control surface in thick-surface mode.
