Hi,

Is it possible to import and perform analysis on a model in STEP file format?

Also, what file format (other than vsp) is recommended to perform analysis? I currently have the stl and step file formats of the aircraft model.

OpenVSP can not read in or use a STEP file -- it can export them.

VSP is the best format for analysis. You can read in a *.hrm file and
perform some analysis with it. Or a STL and do a very limited amount
of analysis.

Your best bet is probably to read in the STL and then use that as a
guide to recreate a VSP native geometry. You may want to use FitModel
to help with that process.
