Hello there.
I am frequent user of VSP software, mostly as observer.
I have noticed that within last few versions GUI was changed in a way that PANEL METHOD in VSAERO GUI was removed and replaced with something called " THICK " which is not functional. I tried to find some guidance or explanations but can not find any.
Could you please shed some light on subject.

Regards

What do you mean that 'Thick' is not functional?  What have you tried that isn't working?

The separate VLM / Panel modes have been eliminated -- they were running the same stuff under the hood, it was mostly a model preparation difference.

Now, you can generate mixed models with any combination of thick / thin representations of components -- use a Set for each.  The easiest way is to put your lifting surfaces in one Set (use it for Thin) and your bodies in a different Set (use that for Thick).

Don't put any Geom in both Sets.

Hi,

You should refer to a workshop video, there’s should be an explanation how to use thick. It is always work for me to set thick on fuselage and pod, then the lifting surface set as thin. Lastly, true it’s quite tricky to use thick method.

To the other poster's point, here is a link to the 2025 Workshop videos.  There are four on VSPAERO.

I'm wondering what issues you have had with Thick components.
