NASTRAN Error

I am having a problem in exporting a wing structure mesh to NASTRAN. This the error message I get. Help please.

I don't have any idea, but it doesn't look like a problem with the file from VSP.

Then Sir can you please guide me in performing FEA of a wing structure created in OpenVSP. I have tried using NASTRAN on more than one wing structures and having the same error all the time. May be the problem is with MSC Nastran-Patran. Is there any other way to do the finite element analysis. Thank you.

I would suggest you try a simple NASTRAN example that has nothing to do with VSP -- perhaps something that comes with NASTRAN.  You need to confirm if your NASTRAN installation is working before you can use it with VSP.

The folks at UT Austin have made the most extensive use of the VSP structures capability.  They presented their work at the last VSP workshop, their slides are available here...


They have their own set of tools which are freely available from a website listed in their presentation.

Let me google that for you. ;)

The error happens in the Student Edition version of MSC Nastran when you manually submit a .bdf or .dat to MSC Nastran, as opposed to using Patran.

Add these keywords when submitting your MSC Nastran job: prog=edu auth=edu arch=32
