Hello Sir/Madam,
Can anyone provide me any info about FLOPS (NASA's Flight Optimisation System) ? Is it possible to download it ? How can I calculate the weight of a HWB ?

FLOPS can be requested by sending a letter to NASA Langley, c/o Karl Geiselhart. However, I believe it may only be distributed to U.S. citizens.

FLOPS has analyses for estimating HWB weights.

No, and likely never will be... It has gotten mired in conflicted data rights issues similar to vorlax. There are some efforts to link a sophisticated conceptual design spreadsheet analysis to vsp by two universities but that may take a bit more time.

Thanks for the update on FLOPS.

The idea of a conceptual design spreadsheet analysis linkage to VSP sounds very exciting. Is there any way I can get more information on who is working on that and perhaps find out if I can somehow participate?

A bit more information on the release of FLOPS. I have been working with the appropriate people at NASA to see if we can make FLOPS available for public release. The process is moving, but there are still some things yet to resolve. So, it may happen, but it is not guaranteed. If it is released, you will have to request the software from NASA and sign a software usage agreement (SUA). We are also trying to work with export control to see if there are any restrictions on that side as well. Stay tuned...

This sounds nice, but I fear it will end up the same way the business with VORLAX ended. But one can surely hope.
