I have run VSPAero for the first time and run the solver to completion.

When I launch the viewer, I get "Could not open the font file for writing" as an error message.

Any suggestions how to get around this?

Thanks in advance

Richard

Richard,

This can sometimes happen.  I am unsure of the cause but I can usually get the viewer to work by saving and restarting VSP, then opening the VSPAERO tab and clicking viewer.
If this does not work, try restarting VSP and running the solver again.

Hope this helps!

Richard,

Can you attach the file in question in this thread?  One of us should be able to look at the model and see if the error persists on other machines.
Additionally, what version of OpenVSP are you using?  A new version was released (3.2.0) that may have already fixed this issue.

Cheers.

Richard,

I don't believe this has anything to do with the file you're trying to
open. It also does not appear to be a random occurrence.

When the VSPAERO Viewer runs, it writes out a binary file containing
the OpenGL font -- it then immediately reads it back in.

This error occurs when you fail to write that temporary file. Perhaps
you don't have permission. Perhaps there is another file with the
same name. I'm not sure...

All,

I have tested running VSPViewer 2.2 from Command Prompt and it reads the model_DegenGeom.ADB file just fine on my machine (Windows 7).  The easiest way for me to do this was to copy the ADB file that I want to look at into the VSP 3.2.0 directory and let Viewer read it straight from there.  If file copying isn't your thing, you can also call the program or file from the working directory in CMD.  Change the directory to either the OpenVSP or model location, then use the full path to call the program or model.
For example:
I change my directory to the model folder - "C:\Users\blitherl\Documents\01-NASA-Work_Files\01-11-VSP Test files" (note that the path is in quotes because there are spaces in the file names)
Call the VSPViewer application by calling the full path and naming the ADB file that you want to look at:  " C:\Users\blitherl\Documents\OpenVSP\OpenVSP-3.2.0-win32\vspviewer model_DegenGeom "

This is time consuming however and it may be easier to just paste a copy of vspviewer.exe in the model folder.

In the meantime, this should allow you to view the solution as a fix for this problem is found.

Cheers
