Ricardo,
If you could document some of your experiences and best practices for
VSP to OpenFOAM on the VSP Wiki, that would be a great help.
Also, if there are any weak spots in the process that you can
identify, there may be something that I/we could do to address them.
STL is the 'lingua franca' of 3D file formats, but it has lots of
weaknesses. We may be able to do better. I found the following link
that describes some of the options.

VSP writes out TetGen files, so you may be able to try that.
Otherwise, it probably is not too difficult to write out foam files --
or to write a converter like these.
