I've been making quit a bit of progress in the limited time I have to work with OpenVSP and have been seeing relatively good correlation of results to wind tunnel and real world data. Here are a couple of quick questions:

1. While learning the software I built the horizontal tail in a separate *.vsp file than the wing. Is there a way that I can combine the h-tail geometry with the wing geometry without having to build it again in the GUI?

2. Is there an obvious reason why my wing/fuselage (tailless airplane) will solve in Panel Mode but not in VLM?

3. I know this is in a video that Brandon or Rob made made, but I cannot find it again. They stated that there was a good location to keep notes about a model that can be accessed through the GUI. What place would that be?

Hi Dennis,

1. To combine them you can use File --> Import if it's a *.vsp file, or File --> Insert if it's a *.vsp3 file. I would recommend you have a play with using Sets if you haven't already, that way you can create different configurations for various tasks i.e. Set 1 could have the wing,, fuselage and tail, Set 2 could just be wing and fuselage. Then when you run VSPAERO you can specify which set to use. There are some good videos about sets on the OpenVSP youtube channel.
2. Not sure without more info. Try running just the wing by itself and see if that runs OK in VLM mode.
3. Not sure, sorry.

Hope that helps.

Grant.
