I'm loving the whole concept of OpenVBX and my mind is racing with all the possibilities. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find answers to some logistical questions I have regarding building flows and accomplishing specific tasks, so I hope I can get some input here.

My first question is whether or not it's possible to have multiple flows associated with one number, or if each flow requires a separate number. Secondly, I'm not clear on whether or not it's possible to build flows which contain multiple functions. For instance, there's an applet for saving SMS messages to the Inbox; is that a standalone function in a flow and that's the only thing that flow can do, or can that function be combined with other applets? Or would a new plugin need to be written which combines multiple functions?

I can envision a scenario where an SMS would be sent to an individual number or a list, with a list of expected keyword responses. I've figured out how to trigger specific replies to specific keyword responses, but let's say one of the responses would be a request for someone to call back because the individual needs help with something. I would want that response to not only trigger a reply such as "Someone will give you a call shortly," but I would also want to forward that response via SMS and/or voice to a phone number of someone who would be responsible for calling the individual who needs help. Again, is there a way to accomplish this using existing applets, or would I need to write a new plugin which combines these functions?

Thanks for any input, I greatly appreciate it, and again I apologize for asking what are probably stupid questions!

Hey Jay,

I hope I can help here.

If you have already figured out the ability to trigger specific replies to keyword responses, then you're most of the way there.

There's an awesome plugin on Github - https://github.com/kmorrill/Transfer-for-OpenVBX

This allows you insert an applet that redirects to another flow, sounds like it's exactly what you need.

Let me know if it works.

Col.

Thanks for your response, Colin. The problem I'm running into is that while I need the ability to initially provide responses to keywords, which I can do with the Menu applet, depending on the keyword I also would like to trigger an SMS forward AFTER the SMS response has been sent to the caller. The Menu applet doesn't appear to provide the ability to add another applet, such as the Forward applet, so I'm not sure how to trigger the SMS forward depending on the keyword response. Thanks.

Hi Jay,

My Outbound plugin will allow you to trigger calls and texts to another number within a flow. Give it a try and let me know if that does what you need.

Chad, thanks for responding to my cries for help. Your Match plugin seems to be accomplishing my goal, but I will certainly check out Outbound as well. Thanks again.
