Prominent speakers at the Summer School "Security and Privacy in Digital Life"
Summer School, Trento
Outstanding speakers from academic world and industry will give lectures at the summer school "Security and Privacy in Digital Life". Summer school has emphasis on ways of applying the currently available security and privacy techniques in digital society to improve everyday life and business activities.
The speakers at the Summer School are Jan Camenisch (IBM Research, ERC Fellow), Yvo Desmedt (University of Texas at Dallas), Yehuda Lindell (Bar Ilan University, ERC Fellow), Anna Lysyanskaya (Brown University), David Naccache (Panthéon-Assas University, École Normal Supérieure) and Moti Yung (Google, Columbia University). They made landmark contributions to cryptographic techniques that are ready to be used for protecting data privacy and security in the application areas of e-identity management, user data profiling, e-commerce, e-voting, e-health, and smart spaces & cities. The techniques include secret sharing, multiparty computation, privacy-preserving data mining, anonymous credentials & zero knowledge proofs, anonymous e-payment protocols, e-voting protocols, and cloud storage encryption. Timothy Edgar (Brown University) will address legal aspects of privacy & surveillance. He was the director of privacy and civil liberties for the White House under president Obama.
The course of the Summer School emphasizes multi-disciplinarity with attention to specific components on key issues related to Security & Privacy including:
- data source authentication, data integrity, data confidentiality, and digital identity management;
- selected ICT application areas where Security & Privacy is considered to be of great importance, such as, e-commerce, e-voting, e-health and user profiling;
- conceptualization of usability and technical realization;
- and commercialization (marketing plan and business realization) of ideas.
The Summer School foresees also visit to the control centres of Poste Italiane and Telecom Italia in Rome to see how the data security and privacy problems are addressed by big companies.
The summer school "Security and Privacy in Digital Life" will take place in Trento, from July 28th till August 8th.
