This is a more general question. I am interested in knowing about the active support and development for OpenTSDB. In particular the project, I think, was started at StumbleUpon, but, as I understand it tsuna, who seems to be the main contributor, is no longer working at StumbleUpon. Is any of this accurate?

The question is, is the project still supported or used at StumbleUpon or does it have any corporate backer at this time? Or is it pretty much living on best effort support and development by a few (how many?) core contributors?

I know these are not technical questions, but they are important issues when looking at adopting OpenTSDB.

Any help or comments are appreciated.

mahalo.

We're getting ready to move this into production on a huge scale so I think my company would be happy to be a corporate sponsor, in that I'll be working on development a lot and will try to answer support questions.

Yes.

The project is still used at StumbleUpon. I am still working on it in
my spare time, just like I was working on it my spare time at
StumbleUpon. Obviously I don't have a lot of spare time, so things
are moving slowly and sometimes I reply to emails only once a month,
which is less than ideal. I'm still hoping to have more time
available than I had previously once I'm fully ramped up in my new
role at Arista Networks.

ManOLamancha has been working on a lot of new features that, in one
way or another, ought to go in OpenTSDB 2.0.
A number other companies have started depending a lot on OpenTSDB,
such as Box.net, who recently contributed the drag-to-zoom
improvements to the web UI.
There is over a dozen companies in the bay area alone that rely on it,
and although the development pace has been pretty slow recently, I
feel like there is enough people still interested to help make things
move forward.

Are you deploying it on Cassandra?  I know you have done some work in that regard.
