How do you do it?  have an Epson WF 3520 printer that also has the function of working as a scanner. I installed the TWAIN drivers but when I go into OpenToonz and click 'Define Scanner' after clicking 'Scan and Cleanup', a window saying select source pops up and nothing is in it.

I forgot to mention, I'm using the Mac OS 10.11.4.

I don't think scanning directly into the program from your scanner works on Mac OS.   I'm also on Mac OS and OpenToonz does not "see" my Brother Scanner  ... I also have SANE (Twain) installed and it doesn't access SANE , either.

The workaround is to scan all the drawings , save to a folder , then import the scans into an X-sheet layer.  (drag and drop of the scans also works)    But too bad the special Ghibli GTS scanning interface does not work for Mac .   Who can complain ?  It's free .  So we have to deal with it.  Maybe someone will develop a plug-in that will allow direct scanning on Mac.

Would love to see the GTS app on Mac OS as well eventually.
