Thank you for your continued efforts!
お疲れ様です
I just tried to install it on one of my computers and I am getting an error message. I've tried reinstalling it several times now both with fresh installs and by installing on top of a previous version. I have attached a picture of the error.

Looking forward to teaching this to my students again this year!
We will probably enter our films into Kids International Film Festival too. :)

YESSS!!!!! You are amazing!! Yay!! Fixed the program and managed to use save all to save a project to my USB thus solving a huge problem as my students can't save to the schools computers as they are wiped on reboot. THANK YOU OPENTOONZ!!! This is should make it MUCH easier to teach.

Well, I had very little trouble with installing the new version.

I am a little confused about the options for the New Project window. The one that comes up with the new OpenToonz (Startup) menu. And when you click New Project, it brings up this small window(see attached picture)

I don't really get how those options are supposed to work when starting a New project. Will there be an outline or something to explain their functions so even us non-Pros will understand?

I'm really happy to see a new update to OpenToonz though. It's a neat program! Though the learning curve is a bit steep, for me at least. lol ^_^; Thanks for all of your hard work on the program! ^_^

Hi Brian, here is a quick reference of the New Project popup:

  1. Select the projectroot where you want to create the new project. (The additional projectroot can be set in the preferences.)
  2. Type the name of the project.
  3. Set the path to the folders you want to use as aliases. (By default, relative paths are input so the folders will be created under the projectroot. You can change them to any path.)
  4. If you activate the Append $scenepath option for an alias, the path where you save the current scene will be added to the path of the alias, with the needed folders automatically created during the saving process.

Hi OpenToonz team,

Excited to see the new changes! I'm a little lost when it comes to the changes to the rooms, however. What happened to the Animation room, and where can I find the node graph that I can use to designate which FX apply to which levels?

Thanks for all you do! Couldn't be happier with your program!

There is a little problem. I cant pan around the canvas or it will crash. I found a way around it, but its a little annoying so just a heads up so you can fix it.
I have to zoom in and out for it to work.

I am on a mac 10.11.5. by the way.

Oh and thank you so much for the ffmpeg option. XD video format feels more organized than a whole bunch of image sequence all over my computer.

Hello, Shun, thank so much for this program and for the update. I am having a soundfile issue. I can load a sound, I can play it within the xsheet by clicking on the speaker icon. But I cannot see the soundtrack or scrub through it. I was able to both see the sound wave and to scrub through it on the x sheet in the earlier version of Opentoonz, but now I am unable. Is there something I am doing incorrectly?

Thank you!

Thanks for posting this, I used the same update to fix my home computer but when I tried to install it on the computers at school but the windows update wouldn't install T_T. I then tried to run the portable version (for 1.1.2) and got an error that is linked to the same issue (MSVCP140.dll - a missing dll file that is somehow linked to the KB2999226 Universal runtime for windows update). A coworker tried to install visual studio 2015 as they had read that it would solve the issue but that wouldn't install either.

OT 1.1.0 will install but it doesn't the feature that I need (to change the default save directory to a USB). The security software on the computers erases everything that is installed by students on reboot - students have to save to USBs.

The computers are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit with service pack 1 installed.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I was really looking forward to using 1.1.2 with the students. Saving with 1.1.0 is a massive headache and a bit too difficult for my elementary school students.

Thank you Shun! Sorry for the late reply, and unfortunately I am not familiar with most of the terms. ^_^; I'm a novice and OpenToonz is really advanced compared to the programs that I'm used to using.

But let me see if I can figure this out...

1 So, for ProjectRoot, I'm guessing that is the directory for the actual project itself, like a main directory on a hard drive. Is that correct?

2 Ok, I understand the name of the project. lol

3 I don't understand aliases as used for Folders. Are they possibly sub-folders in the ProjectRoot directory? Or something else?

4 Append $scenepath.... I just don't understand what $scenepath is.

Sorry for being so clueless. ^^; If you, or perhaps another user who understands what these terms are, I would appreciate being enlightened so I could hopefully make use of these functions.

Thank you.

Brian,
The easiest way to get a good grasp on what is what is to actually use it.
Just launch a simple scene... draw something... anything... save it or don't... your option.

Don't worry you won't break it.
And if by some odd chance something does break... hehe.... well now you know what it does.. so avoid doing that again until it gets fixed.  ;)

Regarding your questions:

1) Yes, that's basically it.  Think: the root of a tree - everything can be found relative to (and therefore growing from) the root.
2) Rock on!
3) An alias is simply another name by which something is referred to.  Instead of a Project or Scene always being called 'Project' or 'Scene; we might want to provide a more specific name so we know what it refers to.
4) There are two considerations here.  The first is the appending and the second is the actual path of the scene.  The scene path is simply the location where the scene can be found.  Appending that path to a project is a useful way to know where everything is. If everything associated with a Project's scene is stored in a directory specified by the name of the scene then it can be a lot easier to find, especially if thing get misplaced and no one knows where to find them.

hello, thanks for the update, however I've been having problems regarding opentoonz and it's a real bummer because I really like this software. My problem mainly lies within the overall finished product of my animation, as whenever I render it and then open it within the folder, it's move choppy rather than smoothly. Also my Opentoonz still tends to crash ever so often and I really don't know why. I am sincerely asking for some help with this, mainly in regards to the whole choppy video thing please.

Asha,
Please start a separate topic in the Troubleshooting Forum where everyone can focus in on your specific problem.
As this topic is a broad one unrelated to your specific issue(s) it likely won't get the attention it deserves here.

We do need to know a little bit more about your issues.
For instance 'choppy' is a bit vague.  You may need to share a file that demonstrates the problem.

Thanks!

Ankit,
Please start a separate topic in the Troubleshooting Forum where everyone can focus in on your specific problem.
This topic is an announcement of Opentoonz release so your specific issue(s) will likely get lost in the mix.

I suppose the primary question  would have would be:  Is there a colorfx.dll file at that indicated location?
A secondary question would be:  Does the problem persist if you perform a clean install of OpenToonz (i.e. uninstall and then reinstall)?
As for a quick interim fix while troubleshooting the main issue, you might try the portable release to see if that works for you.

I'm having a problem where I just open the program and after 2 seconds of drawing the software stops responding and closes. I looked around here and didn't find anything that would help me fix my problem. Could having Windows 10 be the problem?

No, having Windows 10 shouldn't be the problem.
I'm currently using Win10 and others are as well without any issues.

It might be good to know if you are using any kind of stylus/pen.
Some have reported having issues with such although I haven't.
You might make sure you are using the latest release and/or the latest nightly release.
