If you create any animation using the plastic tool and try to save, Opentoonz will not let you save the mesh level, and using the save as function crashes the whole program.

If anyone has a workaround for this it would be greatly appreciated to say it, but obviously it would be preferable for it to be fixed completely in a new release.

hmm... I'm not using the plastic or mesh stuff (in fact i'm not even sure where it is) but if you get me a screen recording of the issue i might be able to help troubleshoot.

I hope you find a solution.

OBS (open broadcast software)    it's open source, free and not malware :)

There ya go^

I learned how to use the plastic tool from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ys2M-u3jmMk&feature=youtu.be

I will be making another thread about importing SVG vector files and having them be missing fills, and then the fill tool only working on random parts of them so i suppose i will record a video the same way for that

I found a workaround!

when you load the scene, click on the mesh layer and create a mesh. your scene saved the bones and curves so all the program needs is context.

let me know if it doesn't work or if it isn't clear. i can record a quick video.

Nice! worked after playing with it for a minute

the rundown for anyone who reads this later:

create new mesh
delete the mesh column that doesnt say table on it
go back to animate mode on the plastic tool
Now everything is back to where it was before you saved.

lol if you create the plastic mesh while you are in the mesh column there isn't any deleting required. (it just applies the new mesh to what the old mesh was attached to. this is also why the drawing disappeared because your program is basing what it shows on a mesh that doesn't exist anymore. if you don't want the movement you made but want to keep the drawing, just delete the mesh column and the drawing reappears.

Thanks Blender Beetle your fix works!

So it looks like the save function needs 2 fixes so far;
1) Automatically save all the level palettes (to fix the lost drawing problem),
2) ...and link the drawings with the mesh layer.

I had high hopes for Open Toonz but I have a feeling that as we explore more features we will find more broken save issues :-(

everytime when I have some animation using the plastic tool, the software crash right after I put it in sub-xsheet... its not always in the same way but is 99% sure that OT gonna stop working... the worse thing is that if you save your file and the software stop working you can't open the same file again.

I ran into a similar issue. Basically any sub xsheet you load that has a mesh will cause it to crash (windows version anyway) due to an issue with loading the column icon.

I had to turn off auto loading the column icons so I could open my scenes.

Bug has been reported.
