Previewing an animation, New user

How can I stop the animation returning to the first frame when previewing.

I've set the start and stop markers and expected the animation to stop on the last frame but it doesn't. 

It reverts back to the first frame of the sequence. It is probably very simple but as a new user I can't find a solution.

There's an option for that in the preferences, in the preview section.
