Looks really interesting so far! But for some reason my Firewall red flagged OpenToonz 1.2 when it loaded up. Is there a feature in the new version that wants to communicate with the internet?

Have you updated to Windows 10 since you last installed an official release?

Win10 is considerably more picky when it encounters applications that are unsigned or not accessed via the Windows store.

I've been getting that Firewall notification for as long as I can remember (while using Win10).

Hey Rodney! Nope, I'm still using Windows 8.1, so I haven't gone to 10 yet. I've heard Windows 10 is pretty picky. I'm hoping I won't have to upgrade anytime soon. ;)

Edit: Now that I think about it, I believe my friend is using Windows 10 though, if they run into the same problem, what would you recommend that they do?

Well, it is but generally speaking that is a good thing.  Win10 doesn't prevent us from installing an application, it just warns us that it's not from authorized sources or that it's requesting access (i.e. to get through a firewall).  Once that notification is acknowledged the user can just press on with installation (which is what I do).

I'm not that good at predicting the future.  Let's see if they run into the same problem first. 

But to answer the question about what they should do if they encounter the same problem... I'd say... report it!  :)

Brian,when I first install a new version I also get that firewall popup on windows 10 asking about private and public networks. I just close it and work. at very least opentoonz is looking for the latest update, I doubt it's much more than that.

Upon startup, OT goes out to the net (to github probably) to check for new versions. If found, it will give you notifications it is available and give you the option to visit the website.

That's the only reason it goes out to the net, as far as I know. This isn't new.

I have just updated to 1.2.0 and am greeted by a screen with no canvas (see attached).

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling and no difference. I can draw on the in the drawing area, but it doesn't show anything there. Only shows my drawing in the preview window on the right hand side. (I'm fairly new to OpenToonz, so sorry if my terminology is incorrect).

Please help! I love the software and really want to get back into it. Thank you.

It has all the new features of 1.2 except the ability to use shader fx, but I think some of the under the hood changes might make the experience better for you.

when using the raster or even any level, it act like it have a stabilizer from sai (art program) higher than 10. do you guys have any ideas how to make it stop doing that

Sure is.  Look up a couple posts where he linked to the modified portable release.  There is also an unmodified v1.2 release.

The modified release attempts to resolve some specific issues with OpenGL, etc.

Jeremy (turtletooth) also announced it in several other posts.
