Since there are many issues that will take some time to fix (especially since nightly builds don't seem forthcoming) - you might want to give Anime Studio Pro 11 a spin.

I really like using it - and find it to be the fastest, best way to get animation done, period:

I've started adding video training for Anime Studio Pro 11 on my OpenToonz YouTube Channel (While I Wait):

If you just want to dive in and start animating - this is the way to do it.

OpenTOonz and ASP actually complement each-other quite well: OT's strengths lie in frame-by-frame, while ASP is fore-mostly a 2d bone rigged animation tool. I have and use both.

So compare Opentoonz with Toonz Premium 7.3 first.

The price is unbelivable  € 349.
(I remember the time the price was very much higher and you needed a silcongraphics workstation)

By the way, the last years upgrades, AnimeStudio from Version 8 until now cost me between 500-600 $

Faktengag:

I just looked through the feature set of Toonz Premium - and I see very little difference between that application and OpenToonz software.

Maybe you are more familiar with this version.  If so, could you please tell us what are the advantages of Toonz Premium over OpenToonz?

This is an opentoonz group and not an advertising stage for other products.

I don't know the difference between "open" and "premium", but between "anime" and "toonz". And "opentoonz" is an addition to my workflow.

I'll buy premium this summer, so ask me again in fall.

At the moment I like this:

Plastic tool

The edit Mesh Mode has been added to allows to manipulate the Mesh moving points, swapping and splitting edges and cutting the Mesh. The Snap to Mesh Option has been added to the Build Skeleton Mode. The Animate Mode has been enhanced with the addition of the Angle Bounds Option.

Adjust Thickness

Modify the Thickness of the lines along the animation of Toonz Vector Levels using the Start and End field. Three Modes are available: Scale Thickness, Add Thickness and Costant Thickness.

But compare for yourself the features (where is this list for opentoonz, by the way?):
