Fill-Tool not working

The fill tool is not working. There is no backround colour and the lines are close. Has someone any ideas what to do?

I was having trouble getting the fill tool to works some too. it seems to be really picky when it comes to lines. 

are you working in raster or vector? if you're working in vector, i'd suggest using the box tool to make a square or circle and see if the fill tool manages to fill it. (basically, this will show if it's being picky about a minuscule line break or if it's a glitch thats breaking the fill tool. )

The Lines are definitly closed i also tried it out with a box and it still doesent fill anithing. Like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cgijDLVSkk&feature=youtu.be
Are there maybe any other settings i have to consider?

hmm.... can you get me a pic of your settings that are related to your fill tool? like the palette. i see that you don't have onion skin enabled (someone else had that messing up their fill) have you tried changing from "areas" to "areas and lines? another thing you could try is move to raster layer and see if fill tool isn't working there either (just trying to pinpoint where the break is)

okay. if its not working in raster level that means it's got to be either an overall setting (something in preferences) or a glitch (which may have a workaround.) I'd say look in preferences and see if you can find something that might cause it. you could also try adding a new palette color and filling with that (don't think that one will do it but it doesn't hurt to try) 

If you're still having trouble I can help better later when i get home and can see the program (i get home at 9:00pm or so. )

Ok i tried a many things. Im working on a pc (where the fill toonz doesnt work). But i also installed open toonz on a laptop and there the fill tool making no problems. So i copied almost all settings from the laptop version to the pc version. But the fill tool shows no change. Any other ideas?

I would have to be able to see the program, i don't know it well enough off the top of my head. I'll get back to you on it when i get home. let me know if you find a solution in the meantime.

Have a look at the Tool Options. There is a pull down menu (I forget the name FILL?) that has options for Lines, Areas and Lines & Areas. Fill tool uses this to paint the LINES only, the AREA in between lines only or both LINES and AREAS with your choosen color. 

If not, I see in your screenshot, that you only have 2 colors (white = background and black=lines colors). Try creating a New Style and give it another color and then try to FILL that color.

The Tool Option is called MODE or MODES. Check to see if it is set to AREAS.

ive figured it out!! i had to go to inkPaint --Checks--Inks Only it was hooked on. And that was the default!

Question can anyone paint the BG? I threw a line because I only wanted one section of the BG to be paint

I think it works much like Flash with regards to the Bg. Draw an area larger than the stage and make sure it has no gaps. Fill that in and you should be good to go :). Hope that makes sense.

Please excuse the quick art (or lack thereof) but you should get the idea. Notice that I made it bigger than the camera view. This is also how you could do scrolling backgrounds, moving backgrounds, layers, etc.

I also have the problem with fill tool. For one week the program worked perfectly! then suddenly the fill tool 'got broken'. Now I can not fill in any shape. There is no gaps (Idid the Gap check) and also all the figures I try to fill are "fillable" (I did also the Fill check)/ But anyway anyhow the fill toll is not working. I even reinstalled the whole program.... No result. Somebody has aby ideas what to do with it??
