I just downloaded OT V.1.0.2  last night and so far it seems to work alright.  Then when I tried to render something, it freezes (and sometimes my cursor will act erratically like it has a mind of its own.)  It's very disappointing as I wanted to make it work properly.  I have Windows 7 and 64 bits.  I wonder if I somehow installed it incorrectly?  I am going to uninstall it now and wants to see if I should install it again, or wait for the next version with bug fixes?

Thanks!

I think we need a little more information...

At a guess I'd look at your render settings and experiment and tweak those to find what works best.
As for the cursor, there are a few settings in preferences that folks have had success with.  I haven't seen any problems there so won't hazard a guess except to say that if you are using a stylus/pen you might want to check the settings that come with that software as that is a good place to begin.

If you can capture your screen via video and share what you are seeing that would definitely tell the tale.
There is a lot of screen capture software out there but currently I'm recommending Open Broadcast Software (OBS).  Link

Yes, it is a good idea to do clean installs. I work with Win7 64 bits + Nvidia GT 530 and I don´t have these issues.

After I removed and installed OT, it seems to be okay - but still buggy when I was trying to fiddle around with render setting.  I'm interested in exporting image sequences only;  the issue is that when I go into the render setting and attempt to choose a new destination (for example, my desktop) it would stall or freeze (although I could move my cursor, I could not click on anything.) I had to press shift+alt+delete to unfreeze it.  I had to do  that a few times every time I try to choose a new destination to save my image sequences to.    However, I did manage to click on a destination I want my sequences to go to, and then I could press "render" just fine.  It was just that when I tried to choose a new destination, it just freeze and cannot be clicked on (or anywhere lese) and had to be "unfroze" in order to get it working again.  :/   I wonder if it is really that buggy, or it is something I did that cause it to freeze?

Don´t ask me why, because I don´t know :), but for the moment my feeling is that the best option to manage files with this program is to use folders located on default root directory "c:/OpenToonz1.0 stuff/projects" and with these configuration :  (1) I don´t use these folders (2) If checked, OT open and use sub-folders on Drawings and Extras for each scene.

Sure there are alternatives, but I plan to wait for a time, and some new versions to explore.

You can basically use ANY folder to render. Just define in your scene settings where you want it to go and ALWAYS use the farm!

what is the "farm"?

what is the "farm"?

I think he's talking about OpenToonz's 'render farm'.
Basically, we can cue up any number of projects to render via Batches.
If you look on the Batches tab you'll see an option to Add Render.
Add as many renders to the list as necessary and then set them to rendering.
They'll work according to the options you set.

There are basically two types of tasks we can set in the Batches 'farm'; rendering and cleanup.
We can even save these tasks out as lists for later loading and execution.

Perphaps best of all, these lists are text files so they can be edited outside of OpenToonz so that a lot of tasks can be launched with very little changes to the list.
Care should be taken of course to make sure the formatting of the list is maintained so unless you know what you are doing there it is best to have OpenToonz make that list.

A slightly more simple means of speeding up renderings without using Batches/Task Listings would be to go into Render Settings and make sure that the setting under File Settings for Dedicated CPUs is set to All.  I believe this is the default so you should have that already set.

If none of that relates to what 'farm' is then.... please disregard.  ;)
