well I tried to make my own pegbar with an ordinary puncher. And it dosn't seem to register.
I don't see why not. There is a lot of DIY on this on youtube, for people to get starting with paper animation.
We should be able to define our own pegholes.

Or is there something I missing out here...

anyway:

"the autocentering failed on the current drawing".

And btw. I used jeremy's stopmotion dslr to "grab" the images, and I found that I couldn't use it via the scan&Cleanup. That aught to be fixed?!

and just look at this for perspective :)

All the best :)

Thanks for posting a link to that video.
Very insightful.

I've made my own pegbars and hole punchers before but I never considered adding a 4th hole.
That's a really good idea. Especially if the design could be done so that ease of rotating is maintained while using three holes (shifting down to one as the pivot point) and then placing on the 4th to lock the paper down and to facilitate panning etc.

Regarding the registration of custom peg holes.
Yes, that would be nice to have.
Perhaps you might recategorize this topic as a feature request to put it on the development radar.

I think I lost you there -
...ease of rotating is maintained while using three holes (shifting down to one as the pivot point) and then placing on the 4th to lock the paper down and to facilitate panning etc.

- I totally get the panning part, (Pan tabs also supported by the scanner module like in Toonz I guess ?!)

- but what do you mean by rotating around three tabholes shifting down to one as the pivot point.

And I still miss the pegbar option by right-clicking "table" in the Column header.

Where do I find the pegbar definitions ?

In the fieldguide pulldown in Cleanup/autocenter you can chose between acme, oxbry or jpn.

But where does these definitions hide in the code, and is it just a matter of adding a standard A4 4-hole punch (with optional tree centered holes like above)
and B4 with whatever holes you have in this format.

There are files in the stuff directory used for setting fielding.
Look in stuff/config/fdg for a set of .fdg files that have content such as the following:

That was fast response.

Seems not to be that difficult after all. I'll give it a try - thanks a lot

I'll let you know how it develops

Something seem not to be working for the autocentering.
Here's what I came up with so far.
I've got trouble uploading files, i'll try one by one.

Hans,
We need an expert here... someone familiar with the autocentering process.
In the meantime the only thing I can think to do would be to have you share a screen capture of the current process you are using so we can use that as a reference going forward.

I don't think I've seen any successful walkthrough ala video tutorial of the process to date.

The documentation suggests the Opentoonz internal scanning doesn't work and suggests using GTS instead which doesn't work except under very specific conditions; i.e. with specific scanners.

Hans,
I'm posting the documentation for autocenter... mostly for completeness sake... not to suggest it will resolve your current issue:

I have used the autocenter successfully a few times now. Even then, it's anything but foolproof and the process fails many times. It's a shame that it's impossible to manually place tracking points and that you have to rely on specific presets. For now I still mostly use Natron for this process, as it's quite simple and fast.
Anyways, for whatever reason, the DPI of the level HAS to be set at exactly 300 DPI. It won't work otherwise. So select the level on the timeline, go to Level > Level Settings > and change the DPI to 300.
For me it works with standard ACME peg bar. Still, many times it fails on a few random drawings, which I have to align manually.

I'm not using traditional animation workflow - so i didin't tested by myself - but there is a standalone app using openCV for peg alignment. I think its just recognizes acme pegbars - its really not clear in the pdf manual (documentation is in japanese but you can use google translator).

"OLM Peg Hole Stabilizer"

A long shot but can be useful to others!
