Hi

Lag vs Powerful tools and interface.

Opentoonz is even better than many commercial animation softwares...  but its lag is killing me, I own an iMac A1419 Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, GTX 660m 512MB, SSD drive, Mac OS X Sierra, on a Huion H610 Pro graphic tablet
I really don't think a hardware problem, other software like TVPaint, Toon Boom, Flash, Digicel Flipbook, Pencil2D, Animation Studio, and others just work without any lag.. and various of them are the same heavy than OTz.

Yes, I do know that is free and is being developed, and I´m glad of it... but I think one of the primary things to solve is the lag... that is basic!... , I have tried many configurations to solve it with no luck, with lag is impossible to draw well, I stand with OTz because all of its great tools..  just to fix lag to give it 5 stars...

Thanks and excuse me.. but really folks, lag is a priority to solve... I love so much this software... you don´t mind how many times I open, close and open again this !!!

Cheers.

Hi Mikeh,

As you have a Mac, I'm not sure 100% what needs to be done, but I had similar issues with OT on my Windows machine. After some research, I found out that had to specify in my graphics card configuration to make sure OT always uses the GPU of my graphics card instead of the regular CPU as it won't automatically do it.  After that, I had 0-to-extremely minor problems with performance.

Hope this helps, somehow.

Hello
Thanks for your answer..

how did you make OTz use GPU more than CPU?... maybe I can do it on Mac too

Looks like you have an NVIDIA graphics card. You'll need to find out how to get to the NVIDIA Control Panel on an iMac.

Unfortnately, I can't help you with that because I don't know how to get to it on a mac. Maybe you can find instructions on-line?

Once you get to the control panel, search this forum for NVIDIA and find where I posted instructions on how to set it.

Some bad news. I did a little digging and as far as I can tell, there doesn't appear to be an NVIDIA control panel for macs so you can't force OT to use GPU, if that is the problem. :(

One thing you can try doing is lowering Accuracy/Smooth down to 0 and see if it's that? I know, even though my OT is using the GPU, an Accuracy/Smooth value higher than 5 starts to show lag when i draw.
