It opens up the splash screen and it gets stuck in the "Initalizing Toonz Enviroment" and then it crashes saying the exe stopped working, and the cause is the Qt5Gui.dll.

I don't know why it occurs, it didn't show that the first time, it said that the ig4icd64.dll was causing it (I fixed it) but it actually crashed in the "creating main window" step, not earlier in the splash screen.

Please, help.

Hi @Emilio.

Are you using two or more extra monitors?
If so, you have to turn off all the extra and run the OpenToonz. It worked for me since I had the same issue as yours.

[Windows]  I originally was having a problem like this (I don't know if there was a dll associated with the crash), but then I read that I could run as administrator as a work-around, and that worked for me.

Even after I installed version 1.0.1, it still had to be run as administrator.

However, I finally figured out the solution [for at least the problem I was having]:  Do NOT install the "OpenToonz 1.0 stuff" folder in the Program Files folder.  I don't know why I thought that would be a good idea, but once I went with the default place (just inside C:\), it opens fine without administrative privileges.

Hope that helps

Thank you very much.  Running as administrator solved the problem for me.

There is a tradition in toonz to divide the rights between users and admin. As an eksample you wouldn't be able to change the the colours in the palettes without admin rights. I guess it was to protect the consistency of workflow throughout the produktion line. But most annoying when you are a single user, it took time to figure that out.

@Hans Jacob Wagner
There is likely some Windows permission issue that is preventing OT from running without having to resort to running as an Admin. Maybe something with Windows Defender, anti-virus software or some windows patch is somehow affecting OT's rights.

I've seen issues with the stuff folder not having the right access granted to the user, even if the user was marked as an administrator.

Hard to know what's going on here.
