Hello again, I am trying to import image sequence files from Photoshop and import them into Opentoonz to further develop the animation. However, as you can see in the attached image, after importing the files as levels into Opentoonz, I cannot get access to any of the levels and therefore can't make any changes to the drawings as needed. How can I solve this problem?

Hi,
PSD files import as read-only levels into OpenToonz.
You should export from Photoshop using any other standard image format (TIFF, PNG, TGA) and you'll be able to edit the imported level in OpenToonz.

Thank you, exporting the layers to files in Photoshop did bring the images to be editable. However when naming the files, do they need to be labeled in a set digit numbers only? Like in the attached image below, when files are labeled in a combined set of layer names and digit numbers, each image file is put into its own column...

When importing image sequences you do have to number them is a specific way for opentoonz to see them as a sequence. i hate that my animator uses photoshop for animation (is more of an artist than an animator so he isnt familiar with animation tools like opentoonz or aesprite

I see, thank you for the reply.  In fact I am teaching Opentoonz to animation students but one of them had brought her animation sequence as a PSD file, which didn't make me happy :(

Perhaps you can use a file renaming app to change those sequence names to something OpenToonz can digest as animation levels.
Here you can check what are valid name types for imagen sequences.

The sequence needs to named filename_0001.png or filename.0001.png. In many cases, as long as they are named sequentially, you can rename them easily from within OT. If you open the FileBrowser, find the sequence and right-click on the first image. Use the rename option - it usually renames all the frames at once & then the sequence can be loaded properly. If you happen to be using macs, it's also fairly easy to rename a selection of files in Finder.

Alternatively, you could load the PSD as frames but merge onto another raster level with the same number of empty frames.

Thank you for the help. I have one more question - after renaming the files, it seems that Opentoonz automatically adds .number (four digits). Is there a way to go without this step? As you can see in the photo below, export > layers to files in Photoshop had already labeled the files with a four digit padding, so I do not need additional numbering.

To convert those files you need a renamer app with more capabilities than what is possible in OpenToonz.
You need to be able to tell the renamer the naming structure of your original files, and then reorder that structure so the frame numbers are put at the end of the file name.
Here's one such app:  https://www.advancedrenamer.com/
but you could find many more if you google for "file renaming software"
