Suddenly, starting yesterday, when I Ctrl+S to save my work on a scene that includes a column of MP4 video, the error message pops up "Failed to save the following resources: name.MP4." - But - it's a false alarm. When this started happening, I went to "OpenToonz stuff" in my C drive. I would check the elements of the scene in question, and every time I've checked after seeing the error message, the MP4 in question is right there in the folder where it belongs.

All of these scene projects that include video and have been getting that error message open up fine, the videos aren't missing or damaged.

So - it looks like it's just an error message glitch. But I'm curious if other people have ever encountered this?

We have been seeing some reports like this of late.
If you are using FFMPEG 7.0 you might want to double check that as 7.0 does have some issues with rendering to GIF format.
Your problem sounds a little different though but... worth checking.

Thanks, Rodney - I've looked around in the FFmpeg Program Folder, but I can't see its version. I see the date 2018. - All I know is that it's what was supposed to be the most recent when I updated OpenToonz to V 1.7.1 recently. -- Meanwhile, it's a strange glitch, but it's not causing a problem (yet). Thanks again.

Is the file that's on disk, writable?
That can sometimes cause an issue with saving.

Thanks for the input, Darren. The MP4s in question all have the same source - I filmed them. But you made me curious so I had a look at their Properties. Most have the usual choices at the bottom, Read-only or Hidden. But the ones triggering that odd warning message "Failed to save..." have something else under Read-only or Hidden at the bottom of the Properties tab.  It says "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." - Now that's not accurate - I uploaded all of them from my camera to my computer. None came from another computer. BUT the MP4s with that extra "...came from another computer" warning had been trimmed on a free online video trimming tool. I can't make sense of it, but that's the only difference between the MP4s OT takes without complaint and these few that trigger the "Failed to save" warning. - There's an "Unblock" choice next to this "from another computer" dialogue, so I've clicked that and now those MP4s have the same info on their properties tabs as the rest. -- SO - all pretty strange, but no biggie since none of my work was screwed up. One more thing - as I think I said before, even though OT said it was failing to save these particular clips - that wasn't true. They were in the "OT Stuff" folder where they belong, and have never stopped working. -- Ta da - There's my novel-length reply. 8-)
