FFmpeg

I am an Ubuntu 16.04 and have OpenToonz 1.1.3, ffmpeg version 3.4.4-1~16.04.york0

I can not render the scene in gif, mp4 or mov formats in Output Settings, because these formats are not there! I tried File -> Fast render to MP4, but I was given the error "FFmpeg not found, please set the location in the Preferences and restart". I downloaded FFmpeg and in the terminal with the "whereis ffmpeg" command I found where the ffmpeg is located:

usr/bin/ffmpeg

/usr/share/ffmpeg

/usr/share/man/man1/ffmpeg.1.gz

I tried to write all these 3 ways to File -> Preferences -> Import/Export -> FFmpeg Path. After each change, reloaded the Opentooz. But the error remained and new formats did not appear. What have I done wrong?

are you able to run the newest version of OT in Ubuntu .....the 1.2.1? Perhaps you can try upgrading before doing anything else. I remember having the same issue but it has been so long since I have resolved it that its difficult to remember the path I took to get there. Also are you using the morevna edition or the regular one?

im using the regular release (non morevna) version of OT and I have 1.2.1 version with my ffmpeg sitting right on my desktop where I can see the folder.

I'm not sure how it works on Linux but on Windows we can't point to jut the FFMPEG directory.

We have to point inside that directory to the bin directory.

So.... ffmpeg/bin instead of ffmpeg/

Give that a try.

Oh thank you! it works!

instead of /usr/bin/ffmpeg, I entered /usr/bin/ and restart OpenToonz and it works! Now I can render also to gif, mp4, webm.
