Unfortunately, I am running a Windows 7 32 bit system. My system meets all the requirements, but it's not 64 bit.
Is there any way I can modify the software to suit my system, or will it never work out for me?

I was interested in this software and I really wanted to try it out! Thanks in advance for all of your answers.

I really would like to know as well. I'd like to try it out but can't because I'm using a 32 bit system.

Using a 64-bit program in a 32-bit environment is not usually practical.

The only way to do that is through virtualization, which is too complex to go into here.

The best way is just to upgrade to a 64-bit OS.  I was forced to do that when my professional work's requirements eventually exceeded the RAM limitation of a 32-bit OS.

Just ask a friend of yours to install the 64bits. It is so easy nowadays, so after that you can run this program and your computer will improve somehow as well

The "64 bit required" applies to the binary provided! As far as I know OpenToonz seems to be compatible with win7 32. I have only tested the drawing function in "InknPaint" and some small actions in other parts so it is without guaranty...
There's even a paragraph on the GitHub page which describes 32 bit compilation! If you follow the procedure you will get your executable.

If you are patient you could compile it yourself even with limited hardware (I tried it on a eee 32 bits atom, 1Go for a POC).

Of course it seems unlikely that you could use it for production or serious stuff but if you plan to test it on some toy projects give it a try!

How is this done. I'm curious.

Hi,

On windows follow instructions on this page :
https://github.com/opentoonz/opentoonz/blob/master/doc/how_to_build_win.md

If I remember things correctly, I had to apply the vc12 patch manually for boost and visual studio.

The compilation ran smoothly (it took several hours on my old laptop!).

You must add the qt libraries folders to your system path or copy some DLL in the opentoonz folder. If you forget this step the icons will not be displayed (in the tools panel, ...).

On Linux you could follow :
https://github.com/opentoonz/opentoonz/blob/master/doc/how_to_build_linux.md

Back in the beginning there was a dedicated branch (ideasman linux_wip) but I think that it is merged with the official master branch now.

I had opentoonz running on fedora 23 32 bit and win7 32bit.

Hope this will help!
Erwan
