OK guys, put your thinking caps on for this one. Back in the old days of animation it was very common for a background to repeat as a sort of endless scroll (think the Flintstones where they would pass the same house over and over) or more recently in many anime with a bunch of painted strokes flowing in an endless stream. It's sometimes called a "repeat pan" in the industry.

What is the best way to accomplish something like this in OpenToonz in your opinion? I know how to do it in Flash and in After Effects, but I can't think of how to do it in OT. If you have any idea what I'm talking about, please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks! ^_^

Hi.

Yes, I wish to do that kind of background horizontal movement. I have tried to this movement but it is not as what I expect. It seems hard to put end to end repetition on exact point.

We hope any of the readers who have done this and share it with us.

You can repeat the cycle along as many frames as you want :

Ethan are you using one image as this ? A and A must be identical :

Hi.

Oh I see. Previously it seems there was a jerk in the movement, maybe I think both ends of  As were double (side by side), while your suggestion is overlapping of A's, that is suppose to be identical. I understand it now.

Many thanks.

Thank you Juls_3000! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I had a feeling there was some sort of function that would do this but had no idea where to find it and I couldn't find any info on it. Thanks so much ^_^.

Had Walt Disney been alive today, he will be very happy with this forum.

Walt Disney was known to be a tough, high expectation, unpredictable management, far vision .... yet he was very open minded person, let his animators to share knowledge with each other in their daily work.

Fred Quimby, known to be an animation producer but knew nothing about animation thing, yet a great award receipent in the 1940s and 50s.

A bit of knowledge when shared can make the world a greater place to live in.

Sharing is caring can make a peaceful and better world.

God bless you all.

hey so when I try to set the cycle of previous keyframes after panning the camera to the right, the camera just stays still once the very last keyframe is reached. do you know of any way to fix this or set the camera back to its original position so it can keep panning?
