Onion skin works on raster layer, but not vector

I have a scene with 2 layers, the rough raster layer, and the clean vector layer.

Onionskin works fine on the raster layer, but on the vector level, I get no paper thickness/opacity change. All before and after frames are full black lines.

Vector onion skin will work it I turn on transparency check, but that makes a black mess of my rough raster layer, which I also need. Is it possible to have them both with paper thickness working?

The vector level shows the same as the raster levels. I'm guessing you've got another option selected somewhere. If you can share a screenshot showing your View menu open, we can take a look at the options you've got selected.
