So toonz raster levels can use paint brush tool. I Find that tool nice especially when you can accurately paint only inside already drawn area etc, but it would be nicer if there is an option that allows you only paint inside of colors you selected in the palette. Here's a video demo https://youtu.be/AELdnGjvcJY

since there usually is a right click option too so there we go. Also there would be a "remove paint brush area" below the set.

Great news!
We can do exactly that.

Using the paint brush tool we can tell it to recolor only specific colored lines, areas or lines and areas.
But we can also select two (or more!) color swatches from the palette at the same time and use those to target the changing of color.
The first color swatch selected will be the color we want to change.
The last color selected will be the color we want to paint (or change) the other lines or areas to.
Make sense?

In some cases the 'Selective' option should be turned on to help target specific colors but I've found that doesn't always make a big difference when using two or more color swatches from the palette.
When in doubt, we want to have 'Selective' turned on.

There are a few odd behaviors we have to account for to include the additional coloring of 'blank' areas where there is no line or fill.
But usually that isn't a problem.

For some of your other thoughts such as removing specific lines or areas consider using the Erase tool with the 'Selective' option turned on.
That will get rid of specific colors quickly and easily.

I should have mentioned...

To grab a bunch of color swatches we can Shift select them but in order to grab one here and one over there...without grabbing the color swatches between the two... we need to hold down the Control key while selecting the colors.

Also, in my last post I may not be describing exactly what is happening with regard to selecting more than one color swatch.
It may be that OpenToonz is simply using the previous colors selected as a target and the last color selected as the new (desired) color to paint with.
The end result is the same but it is important to be accurate and the truth is... I don't know exactly how that works.

@Rodney, can you share a video of your process? I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding you, or am doing something wrong or perhaps this just doesn’t work in OS X.

Using the paint brush tool set to selective prevents me from painting over any of the area colors - which according to the Harlequin manual is the expected behavior. What colors I have selected do not make a difference. Without selective checked, having multiple colors selected still has no impact. The last color selected is the color that paints, but it covers all of the other colors and the transparent background.

I hadn’t realized the eraser tool could target specific colors - that is extra handy!

Now you've got me curious.
I'll try to put something together or... perhaps you can drop in to Discord or someplace where we can share screens together.

After posting my explanation I did get a little different experience so I'm not entirely sure I read what is happening correctly.
It mostly works as I described it on Windows though so hopefully it does on Mac as well.

I really need to dust off my youtube channel and post some videos there.

this works fine on lines but yea, the thing I was not specific about was that I was talking about area mode specifically because I can't do what I desired. https://youtu.be/x-TlPuzXza8

Tyrzin,
I believe this capability is now implemented in OpenToonz in a variety of ways.
Please feel free to reopen this request or start a new topic detailing the specific feature currently lacking.

Thanks!
