I find myself temporarily without a Wacom Tablet so I wanted to play with the software using a mouse-only setup (like I did in the early to mid 90's). In Photoshop and virtually all art programs I've ever used you can ink/draw by using this method: Draw a point, hold the SHIFT key on the keyboard and draw another point. At this time the software usually will draw a straight line between the two points, or if you prefer you can hold shift the entire time and draw a perfectly straight line. This allows you to do curves and digital inking quite well with vector lines and then you can always bend/change/edit the lines later to fit your artwork.

When I try this in OpenToonz however, I simply get two dots and no line between, so it seems that the SHIFT trick doesn't work. Does anyone know how to get this to work in OT? Please let me know, thanks!

I do not believe OT offers this option. Instead, you could use the line tool. I created to shortcuts, one for the geometric tool, and one for the brush tool. This allows for quick switching.

It would be handy, though, if OT would support the shift key to draw straight line segments in the future.

The most similar thing to the pen tool would be the Polyline mode of Geometric tool. You can double click or connect back to the start to end a line, and then use the Control Point Editor Tool to do the fine tuning. Holding down while you click lets you curve your line too.

Oddly, holding Alt won't change the size like it does with the brush tool...

Thanks so much. I'm sure I can work with that ^_^. I really appreciate it. It's just a temporary measure but I just want to learn the software inside and out. Thanks!
