How do you delete a project in Toonz (version 1.2)?

Thanks in advance.

There is no menu for deleting a project for now.

You can manually do it by removing the project settings file
"C:\OpenToonz 1.2 stuff\projects\[project_name]\[project_name]_otprj.xml"
This way will remove the project from File Browser tree.
Please note that this way will not remove resources (levels, images and scenes) of the project. Also please note that most of scenes belonging to the deleted project will become disable to open because it needs some information from the project settings.

If you would like to remove all resources of the project as well, they are contained in each project folder by default (such as drawings, extras, scenes, etc.) so just delete whole the folder "C:\OpenToonz 1.2 stuff\projects\[project_name]\" .

If I need to delete an entire project (not just an individual scene or level), I’ll go to the project folder location using the computer’s file manager (in my case Finder). If you are just using the Stuff folder as the project location go to Stuff -> Projects & then delete the project folder. I personally use an alternative project location (in the Documents folder) so I’ll go to Documents -> OpenToonz & then delete the project folder.

As far as I’m aware, there’s not a way to delete a project directly inside OpenToonz.

Individual scenes and levels can be deleted from a project inside OpenToonz in the Browser by right clicking on the file & selecting delete or by pressing the delete key. When removing levels, it is best to remove them from the Xsheet first, then from the scene cast, and lastly from the drawing or extras directory if you want to completely delete them from the project.

I have one more question. If I delete an unnecessary scene in the project, then its drawing levels will remain in the "drawings" folder. Is there a way to determine which levels do not belong to any of the scenes in the current project in order to delete these unnecessary files?

@beheemooth   yes, there is likely more than one way to remove unused levels from a Project.
The way I might do it is as follows:

Open a Screen Cast window
(This will allow us to see all the assets associated with the Project as a list or (optionally) with it's icon)**
Right Click and select "Remove All Unused Levels".
If there are no unused levels we should see a message that states "No unused levels".

Added:  As soon as I typed this response I noted that the same option is available via the Levels menu in the main UI.  Just use Levels > Remove All Unused Levels.
I'll guess the option is elsewhere in OpenToonz as well.

I try to remind myself to use the Screen Cast window because there are many useful options available for keeping a Project organized and moving down the production line.

**As I tend to be more than a little wary of programs helping me in the process of deleting files I would likely use the 'icon' option so I can see the preview of the level in question and then delete it manually.
Even there however it's important to understand that the icon is only the first image in that level so we could be deleting drawings used elsewhere.  For instance, images used by other Projects.

"Remove All Unused Levels" removes levels only from the "Scene Cast" of the current scene, and not from the "drawings" folder. All these levels remain and just take up space on the hard drive, although they no longer belong to any of the scenes. How can I do an operation like "Remove All Unused Levels" not in "Scene Cast" but in the "drawings", "extras", etc folders?

More juggling acts... pending a better solution.

Short story though... I don't know of anything that can directly get the job done.

To return to the topic at hand for a moment... that of deleting a project.
In a sense that is very simple.... just delete the project directory and the project is gone.
However, this hints at a way to delete drawings no longer used as well... although by taking a slightly longer route (that just happens to clean up the Project files structure in the process.
Via the Browser Room if/when we Right Click on a scene file there is an option to 'Collect Assets'.
Do this should (at least in theory).... collect all the assets related to the Project (I believe I've tested this before and it fell short of my expectations).
But... assuming that works or can be made to work and collect all the Project assets...
Now we want to use Export Scene and then (importantly) specify a new Project name and location.
This should... again... in theory... create a prestine Project directory with only the assets associated with that Project and scene.
It is THIS Project we want to keep and use.
The other project we can now abandon... thereby 'removing' all unused levels because they were never brought forward into the updated Project.

This also (in theory) could resolve the issue of sharing projects because this new prestine Project directory is ready to be zipped up and shared with others.

Yes, it needs a little tweaking, file integrity validation and automation but it has potential.
