serious tablet problem means open toonz is unusable on my laptop

Hi I have a 2 in 1 laptop, when I put it into tablet mode and attempt to use OpenToonz there is a problem with how it reads my stylus pressure. I try and draw on the canvas, the pressure seems almost random. It is very light then I press harder and the line stops being drawn. Sometimes I draw with less pressure and the pressure of the line being drawn is very high. I tried to turn off the "windows ink" setting in the preferences and this made no difference. 

Should I try the nightly builds? Or is there any other settings I can try to change?

My laptop is Lenovo Yoga x380. 

So far the stylus and touch screen work well in Krita (after changing some settings) and Pencil 2D. So I do not think it is an issue with the hardware on my laptop.
