I've only played with it a little bit but when i did, i found that i couldn't erase it. is this normal or do i have a bug? I've been fairly comfortable with just the brush tool but it would be nice to be able to paint larger areas without having to mess with the max and min size (i might just make another default setting)

I think you re not using the right tool . You should use the Fill Tool instead.

for those of you who are curious, the paint brush tool is good for partial repainting in toonz raster.

while the bucket fills the whole line or the whole area the paintbrush tool will only change what you paint.

all of the lines are painted with the normal brush tool

green parts are a stroke of the paint brush tool with a different palette color.

the places that have been painted with the paint brush tool change with the color painted while the rest is still assigned to it's original palette color.

this also means that rather than drawing all of my lines separately I can use a filled circle and the paint brush tool to create a basic face

before painting

after painting. (note that these areas that are painted still count as 'area' not 'line' so the fill tool will only fill them if you have it on area mode.)

I'm sure there are more uses for it but for now, this is what i got. just remember:

  • the bucket tool fills a whole area or line
  • the paint brush tool fills a partial area or line.
  • the paint brush tool only works in Toonz Raster. (not vector or regular raster)
