I’d really love to see a preference added to change the default project location from the Stuff folder to one of the additional project locations. Personally, I would prefer to have the Documents location as the default but there should probably be a choice.

At least on the Mac side, it’s a lot easier to keep projects out of the Stuff folder so that the folder can be easily updated when necessary (there’s currently no “update stuff folder” option on install on mac). It ends up being easiest to just rename or delete the stuff folder when updating.

Anyways, my students forget a good 75-80% of the time to use the additional project location. This makes updating their computer to more recent versions of OpenToonz much more time consuming than is really necessary. It also can make backing up more challenging due to permissions issues on the computers. They have full access to their documents folder, but not the Applications directory. If I could prompt them at the beginning of the course, when we customize preferences, to change the default project location, it would be really helpful.

Hello Jane,

There's such an option on preferences in the general tab towards the bottom.

It reads additional project location. There you can choose either my documents, desktop or a custom one.

Check it out.

Hope it helps.

Cheers

Oh I see you know this already.

Yes. It would be nice to have the option on the setup :/
