Disabling default INS

when I open a file for translation, Insert is turned on by default. Is
there any way to disable this?

Dom,

assumption is that you talk about the CURSOR INSERT mode inside of the
OpenTM2 editor:

Being in the editor environment, go to --> OPTIONS --> PROFILE
SETTINGS --> tab "Editor". Remove the check mark from "Set insert mode
for active segment".
