I can't import my MS word documents into OpenTM2 0.9.5
I tried several times, and there appeared different problems:
the folders on C cannot be opend in order to choose the document
the document in OpenTM is empty or shows some letters only
the document in OpenTM is not membered in sequences
Where do I find the "Translators workbook"?
Hoping someone can help, many thanks in advance !!!
Denise
in openTM2 you find so called "Markup Tables" (which can be seen as
file-parsers). Each file type (such as HTML or XML or TEXT or
OpenOffice) has it's own dedicated Markup Table. Translating MS WORD
documents is "tricky", because OpenTM2 doesn't offer a Markup Table
for it. MS WORD is not supported when we have *.DOC files or *.DOCX
files. Only *.RTF is supported .... so you would have to save your
original document as *.RTF, and then you can import the *.RTF file
into OpenTM2, and you would have to apply the markup table EQFRTF.
Another alternative is to convert the MS WORD document into the Open
Office writer format. OpenTM2 does support this format - the markup
table name is "IBMXMODC". My personal preference would be to go via
OpenOffice, because the segmentation is much better than in *.RTF.
Summary and round-trip proposal:
1. Open the MS WORD document in Open Office.
2. Save this document as an Open Office Writer document.
3. Import the Open Office document into the openTM2 folder, and apply
the markup table IBMXMODC
4. Translate the document in OpenTM2.
5. Export the translated document from openTM2.
7. Open the translated document in Open Office.
8. Save the document as a MS WORD document
I hope this helps .... Gerhard
I suggest that you send me your file and I give it a try. Best is that
you send it to my Google account (gerha...@googlemail.com).
Is this OK with you?
