Hello,

regular Translation Manager has got this nasty problem that it does
not support multiple users to share the same translation memory nor
dictionary. It crashes if even two try to use it.
Is the database of OTM anyhow different and this problem is solved?
Thanks
Joze

Hi Joze,

the benefit of an Open Source community is to contribute development
resources. It's not that OpenTM2 would have the technical capabilities
to share translation memories, but the underlaying technology (based
on MS Server and LAN technology) needs to be reworked. Any good idea,
hints and tips are highly welcomed and additional development
resources could be asked to develop a new SHARED MEMORY component in
OpenTM2.

Best regards .... Gerhard

Gerhard hi,

good news. We've tested Open TM2 using the same shared translation
memory and dictionary. It works fine. As Dom said we thought it saves
and shows only one occurance of a segment. It appears it stores all
segments. We solved our problem with a hint from Jordi who advised to
change display settings.
I don't know how it works with a huge translation memory. That is
still to be tested.
I will try to give some ideas on what else could be integrated into
tm2.
Thanks for helping.
Kind regards,
Jože
