Hello,

As a translator for a company and also independent, I would like to use IBM OpenTM in my translations. Would it be possible for me to use it? Is there a way the company could buy the Tool anmd use it? Also, I would like to know if there is an specific way to load my projects into the Tool. I already know I need to have the OpenOffice suite, but how do I create my projects after downloading the Tool? If possible, I would be very pleased if I received instructions on how to upload my texts into the OpenTM Tool.

Thank You!

Regards,
Karen J.

Hi Karen,

the new version of OpenTM2 (actually v1.1.3) is soon made available to the public. However, we first need to do some "clean-up" to ensure that only the open source functions are deployed, but not proprietary plugins and modules.
Once this new OpenTM2 version is generally available, you can start using it for free ... NO costs are associated with it ... it's open source :-)

When you say that you want to load your project into OpenTM2, what kind of project are you referring to? What source files do you have (e.g. MS WORD etc.), which translation memories (e.g. *.TMX) etc.

Best regards ... Gerhard (OpenTM2 team)

Hello GerhardF,

Thank you for your prompt response to my question. I would like to start a new memory for this company. We still don't have a translation memory at the moment. Just the projects that need to be translated in WORD doc format. Is it possible to import it there and start translating?

Regards,
Karen.
