RATS! Date snafu corrected below.

Queers Against Israeli Apartheid
Meeting (and sit-in) at the LGBT Community Center
July 5th @ 6pm

Allies in the fight for an open LGBT Center:
Please join us to support our right to meet in queer community space!
This will be the 2nd meeting that QAIA has to hold as a sit-in. The Center has said that standing up for the right of queers to organize is "outside its expertise" and is "diverting resources" from its "core mission" of providing support groups. Ludicrous.

If folks can RSVP on the Facebook event page, that will be helpful. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=161488040586457

QAIA is scheduled to meet this coming Wednesday at 6pm, and we will. We'd reserved space at the LGBT Community Center, but under pressure from the Israel lobby, the Center cancelled our reservation and banned all Palestine-related queer groups. (Read more at http://openthecenter.blgspot.com.)

QAIA's only purpose on July 5th will be to conduct our peaceful meeting. Last time, the Center basically ignored us, and we met successfully in the lobby... if you can call "success" being forced to hold a sit-in in order to hold a standard community meeting.

Since we last met, a Palestine pride march contingent was violently attacked by Israelis, the Israeli government created a fake gay activist video to try to discredit the Gaza flotilla, and the International Gay Youth Organization has ignored a flood of demands to honor the human rights boycott of Israel (and move the conference to a venue where all queer youth can freely attend.) We have work to do.
