to openTECR: Open Database of Thermodynamics of Enzyme-Catalyzed Reactions
Hi all,

As you could read in the previous emails it seems wiser to put the submission to NAR's database issue on ice, and go with Databases first. If any of you know of another journal (I only knew Databases as an alternative venue) please reach out.

I think even for submission to Databases we need to invest into improving the web presence.

I will give a presentation about openTECR at BOSC 2024 (https://www.open-bio.org/events/bosc-2024/) in two weeks, where I will ask for help, too. I also submitted a proposal to another round of the BioHackathon Germany in December, which I guess will be accepted.

Maybe we can source some work power this way -- otherwise I would work every now and then on making our web presence stronger.

Got further ideas? Just hit "reply"! :)

Thanks and best,
   Robert

Hi all,

I agree that  submission to Databases would be a good idea. I don't know
if I can be of much help with making the web presence stronger, but if
there was an online team effort in that direction, I would be happy to
contribute.

Dear colleagues,

There are some other journals which publish papers on databases:

However, some of them are primarily related to genomics, while it seems that some of them, like GigaScience and Data, give more attention to the particular datasets.
But since TECRDB can be downloaded as a single file, maybe this could be a lead.

I would like to help, but as Dr. Geissmann replied to the NAR, we are not web designers.

I had an idea for one locus-specific database and wanted to engage students from our Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing but, unfortunately, they are not interested in such scientific/altruistic/free work.

Regards,

Petar
