Hello atitching together folks,
I am writing to share an exciting fully funded phd position! It’s funded by AHRC Northern Bridge Consortium and is in collaboration with Changing Lives’ women’s criminal justice support services. The aim is to work with staff in the service use
participatory and individual making to foster care and praxes of hope among the staff team - to better support them in their difficult jobs. Within the frame of the project, the student will be able to make it their own and build on the skills they already
have and those they want to grow!
The project is also interdisciplinary (supervised by myself (feminist and collaborative design praxis),Steph Kilinic at Teeside University in applied psychology, and Nantia Koulidou at Sheffield Hallam in digital jewellery design), as well as
the service manager at the organisation.
Its a pretty unique project in that the collaboration is well-established and the project comes out of another project so everyone involved is excited for it to start (ie no difficult recruitment for partners, participants, etc). The candidate
will really be able to hit the ground running!
The candidate will have access to all three unis and research groups, but will be bast at northumbria uni’s Design Feminisms Research Geoul (which I co-run). There are multiple phd students in the group already, all working on different things,
including one who is funded under the same scheme and also working with changing lives (but with a diff service). I also think the group is very supportive and we’re working on being as exploratory, cocreative, and non-hierarchical as possible. And we’ve just
moved into a lovely new office where the student will have access to materials and space to work (desk-based and practical work)
I would be grateful if you could please share RBI’s with folks you think might be interested! I know lots of people are always looking for PhD funding, and I also know that we get relatively low application numbers from these kinds if projects
— so the chances of getting it are actually not so bad compared to more general funding!
Thanks in advance!!
Best wishes,
Angelika
