Since we have some folks signed up to the mailing list, I thought this
might be a good time to try and set up the first meeting for the team.
I would like to get a consensus and decide on a) how to meet and b)
when. We can use this meeting to get to know one another and also
figure out where we want to take the team. There are several
different ways I was considering meeting, but I want to do whatever
everyone is comfortable with. We can meet over skype, IRC, etc..
there are a couple different options. Just let me know how and when
you would prefer to meet and we will try to get something planned in
the next week or so.
Thanks!

If it is a formal sit down to plot opensuse"s global domination, I
can pass on that.

I came across the following post on the ALE archives on their web site.
It may not be known to everyone, but sometimes internet access at work
places is filtered and you can't get google groups, facebook, etc because
they are blocked. Such is the case where I am now. It keeps employees
from playing on the job :) Well, for the most part, anyway.

I don't suppose there's a way to participate without facebook or having
to subscribe to a google group?
I don't do either, and I use nothing but SUSE, so this is pretty
disappointing so far.

I think Mr. Taylor would be an important addition to opensuse-georgia.
He could be
kept informed of the groups activities via personal emails or maybe by
other ways.
Thoughts?

I've looked at several options, but I have to say that I do not have
the resources to run a mailing list, and unfortunately Novell does not
offer such services to their local user groups. Any ideas of
alternatives?
Thanks,
Jon
Bill
I would really like to have something official from Novell, or rather
the openSUSE project, such as mailing lists, IRC channels, etc. I am
going to try and see what can be done in this area... but since I do
not believe there is much hope for something official from the
project, we will need to find other ways for communication.
Thanks,
Jon
I've been talking to Joe Brockmeier, who is the community manager of
openSUSE, and it looks like we might have our own IRC channel within
the next week or so. In the meanwhile, we've been given permission to
use the marketing channel if we need to do any planning.
I just thought I would pass along the news, and for anyone interested,
the marketing channel is #opensuse-marketing on irc.freenode.net.
I'll drop an official announcement once the final channel is made.
