Hey y'all,

Since the Emory room is not available, another possibility has opened up
to us. It's called the Freeside hacker space in Atlanta. Has anyone
been there already? I've heard that it is not the best location, but would
be sure to bring out the more geeks than novices... This might be good
for our first event, but I want to check with y'all first before confirming
and checking out the location first-hand.

Also, are there any other recommendations for a location? We need to
get this nailed down soon, but at least we have one location open to us
as of now.

Thanks,

Jon

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD, an app you want
to package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE
Studio a try.

I visited their web site and joined their facebook group.  I drive by their location every day on the way
home from work.  It is a gigantic warehouse complex.  Finding their exact suite might be a challenge.
It's probably safe enough but don't leave any valuables in your car and keep your doors locked en route.

I'll email off list with some thoughts/ideas.

Hey everyone,

I've been rethinking the idea for an installfest because of several
reasons. Like Bill, my work has a schedule that will not permit an
early event. That doesn't mean we have to hold a later event, but it
would put more stress on others just to show up early and set things up.
Also, I don't want all of our visitors over on that side of town (the
freeside atl location) too late. The sun goes down pretty early now,
and leaving them in the dark in an industrial side of town is not what I
want them to remember when it comes time for the next openSUSE
installfest.

My thought is this - let's meet up at a restaraunt for a Sat. dinner.
It's easy to set up, fits more schedules, and would be a good start for
a first event for the team. This is not final of course, I just thought
I would throw the option out there.

Let me know what y'all think!

Guys, I just found out on Friday I have to be in D.C. for the relaunch
of our site, www.travelchannel.com :( I am really pissed. I can't make
it. Jon, if you are going to do anything let me know so I can get you
some stuff and start promting on Facebook and Tweeter.

Thanks for the heads up! I would like to get my hands on some
swag.. I know we're doing something but I'm not sure exactly what
yet. :P

Once again, if anybody has any ideas/opinions around the installfest
or face to face meeting reply back on this list!

Thanks,

Jon

Thanks Bill for the support, and thank you Chuck for the awesome
how-to. :)

We will just need to decide a location and time. Since we are so close
to Thanksgiving, we don't need to nail anything down right now, we can
just pick up next week. Then we can begin promoting the event.

Thanks!

That's the best VB how-to I've seen.
