We appreciate the feedback Rick. As you know, the system is pretty new so we do have many things that should be improved over time. Having said that, I would like to address the points your brought up.
1) If I select the Aerial Map to not be dim I would like it to stay that way
- I agree, the toggle is fussy and doesn't always work. This is hard coded into Potlatch 2. We can submit as a but it's currently beyond our ability to actually modify the code. It would also be nice to log back into the system and start where you left off using a bookmark.
2) The ability to turn on/off labels during editing would be nice for streets and such, rather than switching back and forth between edit and view when I'm trying to figure out where I am.
- We will be working on the ability to use multiple web mapping services at once. This would allow us to have imagery in the background and roads in the foreground. Unfortunately, this type of functionality will not happen during the current phase of this project.
3) The Denver Reference map was a nice addition but there were times when I would have liked to know precise areas ie "South of 104th, east of Federal", maybe these are listed somewhere but I didn't see them.
- I think the best we can do is what's currently available. You can search for an address, intersection or some limited place names in the view interface. This will actually point the map at the search result you choose.
4) A clearer idea of cities and counties as well, knowing I've hit every possible dead end when looking up libraries would have helped.
- I may be able to do a better job with the reference map. City and County and quad boundaries are in there. Also, it probably makes sense for folks to print out a map ahead of time for their area of interest so they can track visually on the side. We may write up a tips and tricks to include this info. Sorry if the reference maps didn't show the city and county boundaries well. Were you using the "Denver Reference Map" background in the editing interface?
So - we are trying to improve this project. Feedback is more than welcome. Thanks for taking the time to edit and thanks for the feedback. Let me know if you come up with any more suggestions or questions.
